Bloomberg: Polymarket's lack of a clear token issuance plan disappoints the community, cooling the crypto industry's token narrative.

PANews October 14 news, according to Bloomberg, Polymarket founder and CEO Shayne Coplan previously posted a message on social media, sparking community speculation that Polymarket would issue a token, but his remarks at the Token2049 conference in Singapore failed to meet market expectations and instead triggered dissatisfaction among some users. Shayne Coplan said he is bullish on onchain financial assets and believes that forms such as tokens and equity both have development potential, but he did not explicitly announce any token issuance plan.

As speculative enthusiasm in the crypto market cools, more and more projects are beginning to reassess the token model. A CoinGecko report shows that between January 2025 and February 2026, fewer than 10% of tokens listed on major crypto exchanges rose in price. Cross-chain protocol Across is gradually phasing out its token and allowing holders to exchange it for equity. Centrifuge CEO Bhaji Illuminati said tokens may become an obstacle for companies seeking to attract institutional clients and raise financing.
