PANews October 18 news: Cysic Foundation issued a security incident announcement stating that a security incident occurred in the Cysic cross-chain bridge on October 17. The attacker exploited unauthorized access to a database related to the bridge service and vulnerabilities in its processing logic to illegally mint 10 million CYS on BNB Chain. The incident occurred at 12:31:38 (UTC) that day.
Cysic stated that this incident only affected the cross-chain bridge's message processing and token minting functions, and did not affect the Cysic mainnet or other operational systems. Existing user assets were not stolen. The project team has suspended the cross-chain bridge service and at 13:47:52 (UTC) that day added the receiving address involved to the CYS token contract blacklist. Currently, transfers of approximately 2.8 million CYS remaining at that address have been restricted. Cysic has hired a professional security firm to investigate the attack path and track the flow of funds. The actual loss amount and the subsequent flow of the tokens are still under verification, and the cross-chain bridge will resume only after completing a security review.
