Morgan Stanley sets up digital asset lab to test stablecoins, tokenization and DeFi applications

PANews reported on September 29 that according to Bloomberg, Morgan Stanley has set up a digital asset laboratory to test stablecoins, asset tokenization and decentralized finance (DeFi) applications in a safe and isolated compliance environment, and explore the use of blockchain technology in the bank’s business. Amy Oldenburg, head of Morgan Stanley’s digital asset team, said the lab will also study tokenized deposits, central bank digital currencies, tokenized money market funds and DeFi vaults. The laboratory is part of Morgan Stanley's existing innovation laboratory system, which tests up to about 270 projects each year. Oldenburg said DeFi vaults are still in their early stages and banks need to figure out how the technology works first to avoid bringing risks to existing platforms.
