Anthropic's in-house version control system replaces Git, with over 30,000 code merges per day.

PANews October 14 news: Anthropic stated in a post on its engineering blog that the company has developed its own version control system, Scion, and used it to fully migrate its code monorepo out of git in 5 months. Anthropic said that its daily merged code changes increased from about 2,500 in May this year to more than 30,000 in September, and its original development infrastructure, designed for human rather than AI agent scale, became a bottleneck. According to the introduction, Scion was developed by a team of 7 people, and its infrastructure uses about 200 times less CPU and memory than the previous git mirror solution, while the time for CI and research tasks to pull code has been shortened from several minutes to several seconds. Anthropic said that Scion is not a general-purpose git replacement and that for now it is only sharing its design ideas.
